Home Now for Children
The Reverend R. E. Baker, President of Children of Alaska, Inc., announces the purchase of the old tavern site on the Loop road, more commonly known as "Casey's Place," (picture above) for the operation of a second children's home in which children of part native blood will be cared for.
The deal was completed June 4, between Children of Alaska, Inc. and the Alaska Federal Loan and Savings Association, with Sam Felton representing the Association in the preliminary stages of the transaction.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cather, who came to Juneau about a year ago from Wrangell, will operate the new home and certain repairs and rearranging of the interior have been under way this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Cather hope to be able to move in within a day or so.
Once again Children of Alaska, Inc. wishes to thank local residents for the part they are having in the furthering of this growing work among Alaska's children. Children of Alaska, Inc. anticipate the establishing of a third Home in the Interior of Alaska as soon as finances will permit.
