LIFE SAVED: VOICE GONE.
Earl S. Wood's Larynx Removed and He Will Recover.
Bridgeport, Conn., Dec. 18.—The ailment that killed Gen. U. S. Grant and the late Emperor Frederick, has affected Earl S. Wood of this city.
Today he was operated on at the hospital by Drs. Byrnes and Nichols of New York and Dr. C. D. DeWolfe of this city.
The operation is known as laryngotomy.
The surgeons removed the patient's larynx. It took an hour and a half. The patient is out of danger and will recover.
His voice is gone forever.
