INFLATION AND THE OPA
It is pretty hard to locate all the powers that are exercising pressure for a continuance of the Office of Price Administration. There is plenty of argument to the effect that we will face inflation unless we keep the OPA. But we have both inflation and OPA. The opposition to OPA Director Bowles makes a good case in suggesting that he and his organization be dropped out of the picture-and let the country and nature take its course.
It is the general consensus of opinion that things would run along much smoother if there were fewer Bureaus and Agencies using the power of the Federal Government to regulate and control foods and other products. In any event Mr. Bowles can't be half as smart as some people think he is.
