The People of Elkton and Cecil County Watched the Curious Shadow on Friday Night Last Week.
The eclipse of the moon Friday night was plain and was observed by many people of Elkton and Cecil county. It was an exceptional night for witnessing the curious shadow. Luna came up brightly and not a cloud could be seen in the sky. The moon was so bright and the atmosphere so clear that the stars near it were dimmed, but during the eclipse the stars were bright. The eclipse became noticeable in Elkton about 7 o'clock. During the progress of the shadow it looked as if a slice had been cut off one side of the moon. The eclipse lasted a little over an hour and a half, This was the first eclipse of the new year and it will take the moon fourteen and a half days to reach the other side of the world and produce on January 22 the total eclipse of the sun, which is attracting so much attention among astronomers.
