New York, Feb. 19. Before the trial
of the action of Myer Strasberger to
recover from
Henry
S. Lowenthal
$50,000 damage for alleged slander is
concluded a practical illustration of
the American game of draw poker may
be given before Judge Cochrane and a
jury in the Supreme Court.
Alleged slanderous remarks arose
as a result of a game of cards played
in the Fidelio Club, of which both par-
ties were members. That the jurors
may receive instruction in the game
before the action is brought to a close,
a duplicate of the top of a poker table
--round and covered with green cloth
--has been prepared and is ready to
be brought into court, unless objection
should be made by Judge Cochrane or
counsel.
Strasberger declares that Lowenthal
stated that he had been charged with
cheating at cards and had been asked
to resign from the club. He insists
that these statements were false and
have injured him in many ways.
Moses Tannenbaum, insurance bro-
ker and brother-in-law of Strasberger,
testified that he had intended to take
Strasberger into the firm of I. Tannen-
baum, Son & Co., but because of what
he had heard about him regarding the
card game he had not done so.
