Full Text
A week or so ago Oscar Phillips heard a number of them following him as he drove the stage through the forest timber side of Wares. He was unarmed, and it is needless to say that he made good time.
Last Friday Collie Staw sent in a foot cut from one of the wolves he had killed. He says as he was driving the stage through the woods he came upon the wolf feeding on the carcass of a horse. Instead of running off, the beast showed fight, and Staw killed it with an axe.
The wolves are attracted to that region by the carcasses of stock which the winter killed. The more they eat the less there will be left to pollute the air.
