Accra (ANP)—With the holding of the referendum between April 19-26 to determine if the people want Ghana to become a republic, and if so, to pick a president, Premier Kwame Nkrumah—long regarded as the only man figuring to get the position—finds himself contesting for this "first" in Ghana with his old rival, Dr. J. B. Danquah, executive member of the United party. Danquah was the loser 12 years ago in the bid for political leadership which saw Nkrumah become premier.
