POLICE DOUBT ACTRESSES TALE OF RAZOR CUTS

By United Press Leased Wire

LOS ANGELES, June 10.—Doris Dore, young New York actress, who recounted a weird story of having been slashed by a "gorilla man," faced a grilling by police here today.

Following an investigation Captain of Detectives Slaughter of the Hollywood division announced that the crudely scratched "K's" found on the girl's body were only superficial and that no permanent injury had been done.

Captain Slaughter intimated that the story of the actress that she was the victim of an early morning visitor, "with hairy hands and long arms," was doubted by investigators.

"If we find that this is a publicity hoax, Miss Dore may have stepped into trouble for the department is sick of attempts in Hollywood to attain newspaper mention by so-called 'publicity gags' " Captain Slaughter said.

Miss Dore was found in her apartment in a hysterical condition early yesterday morning. She exhibited eight "K's" crudely scratched on different parts of her body and said she had been followed to the city from New York by an "ape man."
