DETROIT The Phillies have signed up Tommy Lawson, 21, apprentice member of Local 58, AFL Electrical Workers, and he will report to the National League team in the Spring. Lawson received a cash bonus for signing.

A righthander, Lawson pitched the Local 58 team to the championship in the Building Trades Council Baseball League.

He works summers and attends Michigan State College the rest of the year. His father, Curtis, is a member of Local 1063, IBEW, at Bulldog Electric Co.
