Horrid Murder.

At Beetown, a mining village in Grant county, W. T., on the 1st day of April, about 3 o'clock in the afternoon occurred one of the bloodiest murders recorded in the annals of crime. Mr. DeLassaoux, a French gentleman, connected in business with one of the wealthiest mercantile houses in New Orleans, and engaged in the business of smelting lead ore for two years past in our midst, making liberal outlays of capital, and demeaning himself in all respects like a gentleman as he was, is butchered. It seems that DeLassaux was owner, by purchase of claim, to a certain piece of reserved mineral ground. From this ground, upon which R. B. Brewer had permission from De Lassaux to burn a lime kiln, the latter attempted with the aid of his teamster, to remove some rails, Brewer forbade him: but De Lassaux persisting, Brewer ran off and then returned with a rifle, approached within three or four feet of DeLassaux, discharged his rifle at him without effect—then turning the rifle, struck DeLassaux, knocking him down with the breech, breaking his left shoulder— DeLassaux resisting only with a cane which he had in his hand. DeLassaux called to his teamster to assist—tried to get up—when Brewer seized him by the back of his head, and gashed his back and shoulders most horribly with a bowie knife—severing the spine. A wretch named Wm. Galloway, a partner with Brewer in the lime kiln, held DeLassaux's teamster, and prevented his aiding DeLassaux while Brewer was perpetrating this hellish murder.

The excitement in the diggings against Brewer and Galloway surpasses all description. The greatest firmness is required to save them from informal execution. The two felons are now in jail. May they have immediate justice!
Speedy Justice.

The District Court now sitting in Lancaster, has ordered the Grand Jury to be re-summoned to make inquest of the murder of Francis De Lassaux of Beetown. Three panels of petit jurors will also convene on Tuesday.
