July 1. According to the advices received by this day's mail, there is all the reason in the world to expect a speedy engagement between the Russians and the Turks, General Romanzow being advanced as far as the river Pruth, General Panin being actually in the environs of Bender, and the Grand Vizier, with the army under his command, having passed the Danube at Iaccia. In the mean time the army of the latter is said to be much more considerable than last year; but his troops are greatly dispirited by the death of his brother, chief commander of the Spahis, who died suddenly in the camp. The Turkish fleet has passed Gallipoli, and anchored in the gulf of Engia; and Admiral Spiridow, having been joined by the squadron under Rear Admiral Elphinstone, is sailed to meet them.
