MILITARY.—The Artillery Company of the town of Bristol, commanded by Col. Taylor, on a tour of discipline and pleasure paid us a visit yesterday. This fine company left Bristol, on Tuesday morning last, about 7 o'clock, crossed the Ferry, and continued their line of march about 7 miles into Portsmouth, where they encamped Tuesday night—Early yesterday morning they struck their tents and continued their march to this town, where they arrived about 9 o'clock, and were received with a cordial welcome by the Artillery Company of this town, under the command of Col. Cranson. The weather being very rainy and unpleasant the company took up their quarters in the Court House. In the course of the day our visiting soldiers, were several times escorted thro' the town by the Newport Artillery, and after being entertained at the house of Capt. Hanna, both companies were politely invited to refreshments at the residence of Capt. Wm. James Tilley. The weather continuing unpleasant, the Bristol Artillery embarked on board a packet, about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, for Bristol. The military appearance of this well disciplined corps merited and received the highest approbation and praise of all our fellow citizens.—Newport Republican, 24th.
