We have received the following further authentic particulars relating to the dreadful fire, which happened on Friday last in the court, Butcher-row. It broke out at Mr. Osborne's, a Livery Lace Weaver, who was gone out with his wife upon a visit to a friend. His two apprentices were fast asleep in bed, but were awakened by the violent screaming of a parrot, which hung in a room under them; the cries of the poor bird were so loud that they were heard in Butcher-row. The lads, having no other way to escape, immediately jumped out of the window, and alarmed the neighbourhood; but the fire by this time had seized the houses of Mr. Martin, a shoe maker, and one Mr. Dennis, who were both obliged to run out with their children naked through the flames, Mrs. Talboy, a hair cutter's wife, who is very big with child, narrowly escaped with her two children under her arms, having nothing on but her shift. The fire is said to have begun from the carelessness of a maid servant, who left some sheets too near the kitchen grate. Upon the nicest calculation it appears fourteen houses have been entirely destroyed, and several others damaged.
