Two Oil Companies Plan Wells Near The Empire State

Two oil companies are planning wells near the site of the Empire State-Smith No. 1 well, which has been the biggest producer discovered so far in the Poplar area.

The Richfield Oil Corporation of California, has already started operations on a location in the SW1/4 NE1/4 of section 12, township 25, range 50, which is two miles west of the Empire State well.

The Murphy corporation is planning to drill a well on the SE1/4 SW1/4 of section 8 of township 29 range 51. This location is a quarter of a mile west of the Empire State well.

Another new well recently spudded in by the Delhi Oil Corporation is located just northeast of the Poplar airport and is the closest well site to the city of Poplar.
