City of Houston, Texas.—A letter from Texas gives the following account of the city of Houston—“this city was laid out in December last, and on the 20th January the first house built. There are now in this place four hotels and boarding houses—13 retail stores or shops, and one wholesale establishment—and about 200 houses, and from 2 to 300 people now in town; part however, transient visitors. One steamboat, two schooners and two sloops ply regularly between this place and Galveston, which last is destined to be the great commercial depot for all the country east of the Brasos.”
