Hamburg, June 1. They write from Copenhagen, that Luxury, like Potatoes, is very hard to be banish'd from any Place where it has once taken Root; 'till it banishes itself by the Poverty to which it must reduce any Nation that encourages it to Excess. Since the Representation made by a Danish Merchant concerning the Edict against Foreign Manufactures, the King of Denmark has granted Leave, to Persons of the First Rank only, to wear Damask, and others Flower'd Silk: But as to the Prohibition against wearing Gold and Silver Lace, his Majesty continues inexorable.
