Some negroes may be fools but all of them are not, according to testimony offered by G. H. Bailes of the Bee Hive. A few days ago a negro woman came into his store and examined a $15 coat suit. She liked the suit but left the store without making the purchase. In a few minutes the telephone rang and after asking for the clerk that showed the coat suit to the negro, the voice at the other end of the line informed the saleslady that the speaker was Mrs. a certain well known lady of the city, and informed the clerk that she was willing to pay for the coat suit and to let her nurse have it when she called. In a few minutes the negro woman came back and without question was given the suit.
Yesterday Mr. Bailes sent a collector to the lady's husband with the bill for the suit and that was the first the lady had ever heard of the affair. The negro woman imitated her voice and got away with the goods. Late yesterday she was captured by the police and is now languishing behind prison bars.
