G.O.P. TRYING TO
CREATE SPLIT

That the Republicans are busy spreading every conceivable rumor that they can concoct, in an endeavor to create a split of some kind in the Democratic party, is the information contained in the following letter sent Mrs. Lillian Brooks of Sonoita by Herb Hotchkiss of Phoenix, campaign manager of Dr. B. B. Moeur, Democratic candidate for Governor:

"Phoenix, Ariz.

"Moeur For Governor Workers' Club:

"Our opponents are very busy at this time spreading every conceivable rumor that they can concoct, in an endeavor to create a split of some kind in the democratic party.

The most malicious rumor that has come to us along this line is in connection with the highway department and the money that is being raised by the highway democratic club for campaign purposes in past years and at this time.

"Rumor is afloat to the effect that this money is to be turned over to Dr. Moeur for campaign purposes.

Dr. Moeur has asked us to inform the public through you good people that he is absolutely opposed to this method of raising campaign funds and that it will never be tolerated under his administration. Further, that he will not accept either directly or indirectly any funds so raised to cover his campaign expenses. Dr. Moeur feels that a great many of the contributions to funds raised in this manner are made through fear of losing employment, and that such methods are undemocratic and not conducive to good government.

"Dr. Moeur is still standing on all pledges made to the people of Arizona in his Primary Campaign.

"Sincerely yours,

"H. H. Hotchkiss,

"Campaign Manager for Dr. B. B. Moeur."
