The Maratta war is not the least destructive measure in which this country in its complicated distresses is unhappily involved; its consequences were foretold, slighted and despised, by our wise rulers, and the hobby-horse of war mounted with all the eclat of certain conquest. We have long since smarted under the indignity of insulted Commissioners and American defiance: while the last dispatches received in Leadenhall-street, deplore the inflexible obstinacy of the Maratta Councils, and their insuperable objection to all future connections with this country, &c.
