Full Text
The resolution providing for a joint committee consisting of fifteen members—six from the senate and nine from the assembly—was amended by adding one senator and three assemblymen, making nineteen in all. The committee was announced this morning in both Houses as follows:
Senate—Cameron, Griswold, Foster, Strong, Allen, Ueubschana, Burchard.
Assembly—Field, Merrill, Jeffers, Bower, Ayres, McDill, Chase, Fay, Maxon, McIntosh, Hoskins, Barnard.
Men of both parties seem to be satisfied with the selection, and consider it perfectly fair and just. One senator and three assemblymen are taken from each congressional district except the sixth which receives an additional member on the committee. When we consider the large extent of territory and the many rival local interests embraced in the sixth district the wisdom of Speaker Smith and Lieut. Governor Pound in giving that part of the state the largest representation on the committee will be generally commented.
