WHEELER CENSURES
ADMINISTRATION AS
BIG BUSINESS TOOL
Says Republicans Protect Over-
rich But Pass Up Bonus
Bill.

Helena. Nov. 2.--Before a splendid
audience in the city auditorium Thursday
evening. B. K. Wheeler, democratic
candidate for United States senator,
presented the issues of the campaign
and arguments for his election to the
voters of Helena. Wheeler was enthusiastically
received; as were the
other candidates who appeared with
him. United States Senator T. J.
Walsh, who has been compelled to give
up his speaking tour because of the
condition of his health, presided at
the meeting. Previous to the meeting
the Helena Municipal band gave a brief
program on the street and in the Placer
hotel, and preceded the speaking in
the auditorium with a few numbers.
Senator Walsh, in opening the meeting,
made a brief address in which he
spoke very highly of Wheeler. pointed
out the marked contrast between him
and the republican candidate for that
office. and besought the support of
the voters of Helena for the democratic
candidate. He also referred briefly to
the other candidates on the state ticket
and first called upon Judge Joseph R.
Jackson of Butte, candidate for chief
justice.
Tells of "Dirt Farmer"
Judge Jackson was followed by Tom
Stout of Lewistown. who devoted some
little time to enlightening the audience
as to the legislative record of Congressman
Riddick and as to the extent
of his operations in Fergus county as
a "dirt farmer."
Wheeler in his address went deeply
into campaign issues and paid particular
attention to national issues as affecting
the people of Montana.
The last speaker of the evening was
former Congressman John M. Evans
of Missoula. candidate for congress
from the first district.
