Major, Roach and Gordon, by their fearless and patriotic conduct upon the State Board of Equalization, blocked the Hadley scheme to treble the State taxes, and thus saved hundreds of thousands of dollars to the tax-payers of the State. They constitute a majority of the State Board, and their election next November will therefore be a positive guaranty that the taxes will not be increased during the next four years.
