THE COLUMBIAN FOUNTAIN

THURSDAY MORNING, DEC. 4, 1845.

The message of the Chief Magistrate, which we publish this morning, it will be perceived, has crowded out our usual variety and encroached upon the space occupied by advertisements. The only portion of this document which it concerns us as neutrals in politics, to notice, is that which relates to the inhabitants of this District. We are much pleased with the fatherly interest manifested by the President himself, and, especially so with his recommendation "that each member of the National Legislature should consider himself as their immediate Representative, and should be the more ready to give their attention to their interests and wants because he is not responsible to them."
