APPOINTMENTS BY THE PRESIDENT.

By and with the advice and consent of the Senate

William Towren to be Charge d'Affaires to Brazil, in the place of Ethan A. Brown, resigned.

Richard Poltam to be Charge d'Affaires to Chile, in the place of John Hamm, resigned.

Eben R. Donn to be Consul for Buenos Ayres, in the place of Geo. W. Slacum, removed.

William M. Gwinn to be Marshal for the District of Mississippi, in the place of Samuel W. Dickson, appointed Receiver

Humphrey H. Leavitt to be Judge for the District of Ohio, in the place of Benjamin Tappan, rejected by the Senate.

Charles Howard, Elisha Tinneny, and Levi Elyagen, to be Directors of the Bank of the United States, in the place of Joseph White, Sand Alcy, and Roberts Vaus, who decline the appointment.
