We are informed that intelligence is received of the death of Mr. Fountain, one of the Baptist Missionaries at Serampour, in Bengal. Considerable progress has been made in printing the translation of the Bible in the Bengalee language.--Last September, 2500 copies of Matthew's gospel, and 2000 of Mark's and Luke's, with ten chapters of John's gospel, were finished at the Press. As Matthew's Gospel was the first complete account of the life, &c. of Christ, they threw off 500 copies extraordinary of the translation of it, to disperse among Hindoos until the whole books of the New Testament were ready to be delivered to them. The whole is probably finished before this time. Mr. Carey and the other Missionaries were well, and expectations were entertained, that the two sons of Mr. Carey would strengthen the mission, who speak the language of Bengal with great fluency.
