An Unfortunate Affair

Nashville Banner.

A serious difficulty occurred at the Banner office to-day between a reporter of the paper and Mr. George Grosspoint of South Nashville. The friends of both parties regret the affair exceedingly, and it is to be hoped that their differences will be amicably adjusted without further trouble. The difficulty came about in this way:

This morning, while the reporter was sitting at his desk, Mr. Grosspoint came in and remarked that he had an item for the paper. The reporter thanked him and asked him to state the facts and he would take them down. Mr. Grosspoint then related the following:

"Last night about 10 o'clock my wife retired to bed in her usual health, and this morning when she arose her hair was almost white."

"Turned white in a single night from fright?" asked the reporter.

"No: it was white when she went to bed and has been for these eight years," said Mr. Grosspoint.

The reporter arose, and striking square out from the shoulder, landed Mr. Grosspoint in a heap in the northwest corner of the room. He then hit him in his arms and bore him to the elevator, down which he let him slide, headforemost, into the press room.

The pressman was spoken to, and a moment later the mangled 'Grosspoint was thrust into the press and run through, coming out looking as thin as church festival oyster soup. Friends here interfered, and Grosspoint was conveyed home on a window-blind. Latest advices are that Grosspoint, though seriously injured, may yet recover. For the sake of his unfortunate family, it is to be hoped he may. No arrests.
