Full Text
We know of no political changes in the representation in the house, except the following: In Bristol, we have lost one; in Warwick, one; in Cranston, one; [no election.] In Cumberland we have gained two, and in Westerly, two. In Scituate, Jonah Titus was re-elected; and Wilmarth N. Aldrich was elected in place of his father, John Aldrich, declined.
There was a gross mistake in the statement of the vote in Cranston, which gave 53 for Francis, and 34 for Peckham, for Governor.—The democratic Prox received 64—opposition 1.
The Journal says, Mr. Van Buren [was] elected by a minority of the people. That is A DOWNRIGHT FALSEHOOD, gentlemen, and YOU KNOW IT.
