Weatherspool Urges Members To Hunt For God At Mt. Olive Sun.

Taking as his text "Looking For God" Dr. W. W. Weatherspool, pastor of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, depicted Man as being a great hunter from the time that God gave him dominion over the Earth and the creatures therein and suggested that the time has come for mankind to actively look for God in the coming year.

Citing the tremendous technological progress made in the past year and in the past week with Soviet lunar probes, plus the mighty forces aligned against us, he pointed out that the power to accomplish anything is but the dominion that God gave man and that the ultimate power to govern the universe is not man's but God's.

He further stressed the fact that man's unlocking the forces of nature is but one aspect of this God-given domination of earth and the creatures therein.

Referring to God's covenant with Abraham in the book of Genesis, he pointed out that God's message of today to us may be not so much the journeying to a new place as the acceptance of Christ and the protection that God gives his people.

Speaking of the age in which we live and of the inherent problems of living, he recalled the Biblical passages attesting to the prosperity of the wicked. Briefly, he dwelt upon the end of the Batista regime in Cuba and recalled that he had pondered upon its cruelities during one of his visits to that country. Its subsequent end, he gave as an example of God's power over man's destiny.

In a stirring finish he urged his audience to seek God as One with Whom to walk hand in hand and as One who has the answers to the perplexing problems of modern living.

A fellowship dinner followed in the subway church.
