M. Puyravault communicated to the Assembly an address from the Department of Dordogne and Cher.
By this address, which is directed to the citizens, the Council-General informed them of the decree passed for suspending Louis XVI. "Frenchmen!" say the administrators, "our present circumstances are extraordinary; but they ought neither to alarm or discourage you. Call to your remembrance the epoch of the King's flight, and assume, as on that occasion, a majestic, dignified, and tranquil conduct. Shew yourselves worthy of liberty, by obeying the laws, paying taxes, and maintaining property. Let us die, should it be necessary, for the maintenance of Equality, Liberty, and the Rights of Man!"
