The Journal of Commerce says that Gov. Wolf is elected governor of Pennsylvania over Ritner, by a large majority; but that the anti-masonic party has a strength in that state, which has created great surprise in all the political circles.---TWENTY-ONE ANTI-MASONS are elected to the Assembly from the counties already heard from. Wolves will be scarce in Pennsylvania, after the 11th of September, 1830.--N. Y. Investigator.

PENNSYLVANIA.
A TRIUMPH OF PRINCIPLE.

The agony of election is over. The constitutional privilege of every citizen of our Republican government to express his preferences and principles has been exercised or neglected, as he has thought proper. The triumph of the people of this county over the aristocracy of Freemasonry, is signal and complete. Our intelligent farmers and Yeomanry, have made it bite the dust. The loud clamoring and violent abuse of persons and characters of high standing has been sunk into contempt by the sovereign will of the people. Our freemen have taught brawlers and demagogues that they are untrammelled by the influence of masonry. That they follow no men further than they adhere to our republican institutions, and the will of the people. The people of Lancaster county have willed that Freemasonry here, shall be expelled "from power, from fashion and from existence," and that the laws of civil and religious liberty shall be supported.

Lancaster Herald.

The majority for Ritner in this county is 1566. The whole Anti-masonic ticket, has succeeded by about the same majority.--Ib.

In this city the polls were surrounded by the craft at an early hour. Desperadoes were fixed at each, with orders from the lodge to arrest every antimasonic vote, while full license was given to the reception of illegal masonic votes. The craft polled all they could muster, regardless of age, size, or color. Illegal votes were thrown in by scores, and we blush to state that some of our citizens, who should stand high in society were guilty of aiding, assisting and voting them. Even the hired slaves from Maryland, in the night were not left to repose in peace in their masters' kitchen. The whole corps of paupers from the Hospital, poured down East King street to the polls, on the day of election, like shad down the sides of the Susquehanna, in June.--Ib.

Desperate and rash expedients were resorted to by the craft to carry the election. The whole county was flooded with handbills. Some contained slander and lies of one description and some of another. None of these stratagems, however, astonished us more than the attempt to intimidate the various christian and peace loving denominations of Christians. One of the handbills, particularly threatened these with a CIVIL WAR, fire, devastation and bloodshed. This avowal of masonic principles had the effect to arouse the sleeping energies of many a peaceful and peace loving man, and swell our majority.--Ib.
