MARCH 2.

We are happy in being able to state, from undoubted authority, that the four principal British merchants in Hamburg, who were arrested by the French on entering that city, have been set at liberty, the seals taken off their effects, and the guards withdrawn from their houses; and that all property not bona-fide owned by persons residing in England, was respected! The embargo, however, continued in force on the 19th of December, on all vessels in that port; and no American vessel would be permitted to sail; notwithstanding the application of our Consul there, until the French Minister Should receive an answer from the Emperor Napoleon, to a remonstrance from the Senate of Hamburg respecting neutrals.
