A Bad Gang of Outlaws.

Sheriff Williams returned in the early part of the week after several days' absence in pursuit of a part of the famous "Hole in the Wall" gang of outlaws.

It seems that George Currie, alias King, Harve Ray, alias Jenks, and Billy Roberts, alias Hard Tack, who are said to belong to the above named gang, have lately been stealing cattle in the neighborhood of Price river, Utah, and being run out of there afoot, made their way across the line into this county. They worked their way up to Rangely where they stole three horses and saddles from Jim Rector. Mr. Rector had warrants sworn out for their apprehension, but the outlaws had four days the start of Sheriff Williams, and while he kept gaining on them so that he was only two days behind when they reached the "bad lands" of southwestern Wyoming he had to give up the chase as a waste of time.

Once in the bad lands the robbers are at home with lots of people of their own kind and if run to cover it would take a large force to effect their capture.

These outlaws belong to the gang that attempted to rob the Belle Fourche bank on June 28, '97.

Mr. Williams made a hard and dangerous ride after them and had he been apprised of their Rangely doing two days sooner would have stood a fair show of capturing them. There is a big reward out for their apprehension.
