Aid Asked for Ireland.

New York, Oct. 1.-The appeal of the American committee for the relief of famine in Ireland is issued today. It is based upon careful data gathered from various sources in the country which finds itself again face to face with the grim specter of famine. With a dumb endurance born of centuries of misfortune, the Irish people have themselves made no appeal for aid in the approaching unequal conflict. Precisely the same situation exists in Ireland today which, when it has obtained heretofore, has always been followed by widespread suffering and starvation. Men in America who know the inevitable sequel of these signs have organized a relief movement in advance of the actual advent of death, hoping thereby to avert the horrors which America's aid in previous famines has served only to tardily check.
