Salisbury.—The arrest of John Willey, aged 18, alias John Connelly, alias John A. Owens, alias Roland Downes, of Bridgeville, Del., and employed in Wilmington, Del., and William H. Wilkins, negro, aged 20, of this city, authorities believed stopped a second attempt to kidnap 11-year-old Ethel White, a ward of Charles White, of this city, and take her to her mother in Wilmington. Under questioning by State's Attorney Long, Willey admitted he came here to take the girl to Wilmington. The alleged attempt was made while she was at school. Willey attempted to bribe another school girl to bring Ethel to the automobile, it is said, but, instead, the girl informed her teacher, who, knowing of the previous attempt at kidnapping, notified the police.
