Fortnightly Club.

The members of the Fortnightly Club spent a delightful afternoon in their rooms last Saturday, the subject being "Japan." The room was artistically decorated in true Japanese style, and the ladies who were in the program were dressed in beautiful Japanese costumes.

After the literary exercises tea and wafers were served "a la Japanese."

The papers were all very interesting and instructive. The following program was given:

"Early History of Japan"... Mrs. Beerbohm

Piano Solo.... Miss Mable Sebree

"Manners and Customs of the People".......... Mrs. Buckey

Selection from the Opera "Mikado"

Miss Hill and Mrs. C. A. Beerbohm

"Japanese Art"..... Mrs. Bentley

Duet.............. Misses Sebree

Miss McDougal exhibited some specimens of Japanese painting on silk, representing the celebrated cherry blossoms. Among the visitors we noticed Mrs. I. M. McCune, of Pueblo; Miss Waugh, of Indiana, and Mrs. Gillespie, of Michigan.
