SCARED INTO INSANITY.—The parties named in the following item copied from the Philadelphia Press of Friday were at one time residents of this section, Joseph Gregg, nearly forty years ago a colporteur and afterwards junior preacher on Smyrna circuit, and John C. Gregg, school teacher and licensed by the Quarterly Conference of Smyrna Circuit, about 30 years ago to preach:

"READING, Sept. 3.—Rev. John C. Gregg, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, at Geigertown, this county, arrived here yesterday, carrying in a satchel $750 entrusted to his care, and became so oppressed with the sense of responsibility for the money as to lose his reason. He wandered about the city, believing himself pursued by highwaymen, and finally found refuge at the house of his brother, Rev. Joseph Gregg, where he left the satchel and money. Later he appeared at one of the hotels, and, apparently forgetting his disposal of the money, accused several persons of having robbed him. He became so distressed that the hotel proprietor, fearing he would commit suicide, sent him back to his brother's. Even when shown the money he persisted in the belief that he had been robbed. His insanity is thought to be merely temporary."
