Macurda New President of Concert Club

Directors of the Imperial Valley Concert club met Friday night to discuss possibilities of a concert series or a concert, for the next season, electing Malcolm Macurda president, to succeed Guy A. Weakley who resigned that office.

Mrs. William Pata will continue as vice-president and names were suggested for other offices, including directors from the various communities. These individuals will be consulted and the names announced later. Mr. Macurda as president appoints the secretary-manager and the ticket secretary.

The general opinion of the directors was that the concerts should be continued dependent upon the securing of personnel to carry on the work.

This year, only one concert was given, the Salzedo ensemble being presented. In years past three or four concerts have been given under the club auspices, the purpose of the organization being to bring outstanding artists to the valley at a minimum cost, the concert club being a non-profit organization, all officers and directors giving their time.
