With their eyes set on a chance at the state basketball title, the Wildcats of the local high school will go into the first of a five-game schedule in two weeks. Friday night when they meet Needles at the high school gym in a return game, having beat them last Friday at Needles.
Four of the games will be played here and one away from home. Those here are with Needles, Friday and Tonopah, Saturday, Feb. 19 and 20; Ely on Wednesday and Bunkerville on Thursday, February 24 and 25. The out-of-town game will be at Overton on the following Friday.
The Wildcats started the season out this year with several defeats, but came back after a lay-off of two weeks and have not lost a game since, thus getting back into the running.
Should the locals win all of these games they will be among the leaders of the southern part of the state and their chances at the state title will be greatly improved.
The locals have not won from the Tonopah squad for a good many years and feel that they may be able to click next Saturday in this important game. It will be necessary, however, to win all the games to put them in the lineup.
