Full Text

For the PROVIDENCE JOURNAL.

Mr. CARTER,

Captain Tillinghast will probably soon resign the office of Town-Clerk; I shall recommend Col. HOWELL to succeed him.--Though he has been to College, he writes beautifully, handles papers neatly, and delights in penmanship. His Commencement Oration, which I remember to have heard with pleasure, declares his Principles; and, by the way, if you could procure a copy of it for your paper, I should be glad; as I intend, at the end of every year, to have the JOURNALS bound into a volume.
