STATE HOUSE PLAN.—While recently in Des Moines, we called at the office of Mr. J. G. Farrand, the architect, who showed us a plan of the proposed State House. The edifice is to be 350 feet long and 250 feet wide, with a court between the wings in the rear of the dome. Height of dome 250 feet. Provision is made for two legislative halls, 21 committee rooms, several executive offices, a historical room, a picture gallery, &c. The cost will be two million dollars. The building if put up on this plan will be an honor to the State, and no better than it should be.
