'Little Woman' Learns Lesson All Too Well

(By Associated Press)

Detroit, Mar. 10-AP- Stanley Westgate, a 36-year-old 190-pound patrolman, was in a hospital today with a broken leg which resulted from . . . "The most humiliating experience in my life."

The Detroit patrolman yesterday became the victim of his 114-pound wife's expertness in the art of ju-jitsu. In the midst of a demonstration before an audience of women, Westgate played the part of a purse-snatcher or "throat-choker" and seized his wife by the neck.

Mrs. Westgate responded perfectly. "She breaks my grip and clamps on to me with a hold akin to a three-quarter Nelson and the firemen's lift," the patrolman explained.

"She tossed me six feet up and 12 feet across. In fact, she tossed me right off the platform."

Westgate said that during the course of the flight . . . I made a bad landing.

"I wouldn't exactly say the little woman stole the show," he commented, "but she certainly was at her best."

He taught her ju-jitsu six years ago.
