Women Assist at
Information Desk
And Mail Room

Women are taking over in a big way these days-even in prisons. At least they have started to take over certain functions at this institution, and we wouldn't be surprised if the idea spread. Who knows, maybe some day you'll be officered by a lady. And wouldn't that be something?

However, we doubt if Warden Utecht had that in mind when he replaced two Front Office men with women employees lately. The way we got the news, it was a case of a shortage of male help.

Here's the story given to us by Print Shop Superintendent G. W. Rydeen.

"In order to relieve the shortage of help on the guard force, Warden Utecht has replaced one man at the information desk and one man in the mail room with female help. The officers formerly on those jobs can be used to better advantage in other parts of the institution, the Warden figures, while the lighter duties may be handled satisfactorily under this new arrangement."
