Commencement Exercises Begin Today With Sermon by Dr. Landrum
The final meeting of the Philomathic Literary society of Howard college occurred in the college chapel Friday night at 8:30. After the declamations for the society medals, which was won by M. B. Garrett of Linville, Mr. Goodhue Weatherly, with a few fitting remarks, presented the alumni badges to the Philo's share in the graduating class. The valedictory was delivered by R. S. Lucius of Eutaw.
The commencement exercises begin today with the commencement sermon, which will be preached by Dr. W. W. Landrum, pastor of the First Baptist church of Atlanta. The programme for tomorrow is as follows:
At 10 o'clock the sophomore declamations. At 3 o'clock, field day exercises. At 8:30 literary address.
For Tuesday—At 10 o'clock the junior oratorical contest. At 3:30 o'clock the prize drill. At 8:30 o'clock the alumni address. and Wednesday at 10 o'clock the baccalaureate address and closing exercises, including report of board of trustees.
