Former County Judge White Found Guilty of Embezzlement

The case of People vs. Jas. W. White was tried in district court the fore part of the week and the jury returned a verdict of guilty.

This case was the result of indictment returned by a Rio Grande county grand jury, charging former County Judge White with embezzlement of county money.

The indictment covered four counts but trial this week was had on one count involving the alleged embezzlement of about $2,000 of county money by Judge White to his own use.

Mr. White was released under bond pending perfection of his appeal to higher court.

We understand that White's counsel relies upon reversing the decision in this case through long assignment of error attacking the validity of the indictment.
