We hear by private Letters from the Congress of Nimirov, that the Turkish Plenipotentiaries are so far from accepting the Conditions of Peace propos'd to them, that they have even rejected the Uti possidetis. Those Letters add, that the Reis-Effendi declared upon this Occasion, "That the Grand Signior, instead of being oblig'd to accept so hard a Condition, had rather a Right to demand Satisfaction from the Emperor, his Imperial Majesty having broke the Treaty of Passarowitz, while the Porte observ'd it so strictly, that she did not even lay hold of the Opportunity She had to attack the Emperor, while he was engag'd in War with France and Spain."
'Tis said that Minister intimated that this Satisfaction ought to be Belgrade or Temeswar. The Reis-Effendi's Argument was found very weak, insomuch, as he makes it a Merit in the Porte, not to have attack'd the Emperor when the Persian War put it out of her Power to undertake any thing against him.
