THE JUDAS IN UNIONISM
The work of the "spy" in organized labor is becoming apparent. As a general rule he is of the most blatant of "exhorters" and endeavors to have the union demand a larger scale than any other member of the local. He is always on the job. Nine times out of ten he is known by his fellow workers and would be given his quietus if it was not for one thing -lack of positive proof. The members deem it the most disgraceful charge that can be brought against a brother member and are loath to openly make it. It's one thing to prove it, and it's an awful charge to bring against an innocent man.
The majority of members give the suspect the benefit of the doubt; they don't want to believe it themselves.
Circumstances, however, tend to prove that "spys" are in union camps. At least, matters that transpire in a local meeting. where only members with paid up cards are admitted. find their way to the employers the day following the meeting. In this way the employers are able to checkmate the action of the local. Sometimes they trump up charges against the leaders of the union and discharge them, or else they know the tenor of the demands and who were the supporters of the movement. The man who plays false to the fellow workman is not fit for any honest workman associate with. He should be given no quarter. Rather have a thousand scabs than one spy. The day is coming when the despicable "spy" will get all that is coming to him. When found out he should be shunned as though a leper.
He is worse than Judas Iscariot.
He is a cancer that should be rotted out of the labor movement no matter what the cost.
