Governor Paul B. Johnson became the first Mississippian to officially "sign up" in the campaign to secure pledges of 10 percent or more of every wage earner's income for War Bonds. The campaign is being conducted on a nation-wide basis and did open in Mississippi June 16. It is hoped to secure similar pledges from every worker in Holmes county and Mississippi so that Uncle Sam can count his financial chickens before they hatch. Ready to sign the pledge, above, (to the Governor's left) is Alf Stone, Chairman, Mississippi State Tax Commission. Obtaining the pledges (left) is Eugene Fly, Internal Revenue Collector and State War Savings Administrator.
The pledge campaign here will be headed by Parham H. Williams, County Savings Chairman.
