Full Text

HALIFAX, July 1.

Yesterday arrived the Schooner Dolphin from Shelburne,--By her we have received a number of Boston papers, from which it appears that finding their commerce cramped in every quarter, by the British Court adhering to the navigation Act, and considering them as other Foreigners--they are entering into Resolutions in the different States:--either to lay so heavy an Impost on British Bottoms as to amount to the prohibition of the Trade, or to prohibit it altogether--a Rhode-Island has laid a duty of ten per cent, similar to the duty laid before at New-York--and the following extract of a letter will shew what measures are adopted in Massachusetts:

Extract of a letter from Boston, dated June 17, 1785.

"After August, a British vessel arriving here will be obliged to pay 1s. per ton, and twenty-five per cent. on all goods on board, so that you will govern yourself accordingly."
