Full Text
C. W. Townsend, the western traveler for the wholesale liquor firm of Taylor & Williams, Louisville, Ky., is in the city coming down from the north last night. Townsend covers more miles and does more business, The Citizen will venture to say, than any other man whose territory extends throughout the Rocky mountain regions of the United States. He left Victoria, B. C., August 22d; he visited Seattle, Tacoma, Salt Lake City, Ogden, Cheyenne, Denver, Pueblo, Trinidad, Las Vegas and is in the metropolis of the southwest to day. At every city he remained long enough to sell a big bill of Kentucky whiskies, and also to find out to his pleasure that the great territorial fair had been extensively advertised, and that as he expressed it "the whole country will attend." Townsend cannot see how the multitude is to be accommodated here.
