Nannie Writes Stories.

Dear Cousins: After writing several letters and burning them, being afraid Mr. Waste Basket would be hungry when they arrived, I have at last decided, if the rest of the cousins can be lucky enough to get a letter in the "Best Old Paper, what am," it would surely do no harm for me to try. Well, I suppose all you cousins are wondering who is speaking, and what they look like so I'll give a description of myself. I am 5 ft. 7 in. short, blond bobbed hair, which is naturally "kinky," blue eyes and light complexion, am 18 years young, my birthday being July 12th, have I a twin? If so, won't you please write? How many of the cousins love to read "Western Stories"? I surely do, we lived in Western New Mexico eight years and I surely did like that country. I learned to talk to the Mexicans almost as well as they speak their own lingo. My mother is dead and I have a step-mother, also a step-sister, six years my junior. Also have twin brothers who are fifteen years young. They say I'll never see this letter in print, so I hope it will be printed to surprise them. Will some of the cousins send me the song of "The Mississippi Flood," "The Drummer Boy of Shiloh," and "Show Me The Way to Go Home"? I know a lot of songs and will be glad to exchange songs with anyone. I know lots of "Cowboy Songs." Cousins please write to me one and all and all who can send snapshots. I'll sure answer all letters if it takes until Kingdom Come. Here's a few riddles. What has an eye and can't see? A needle. When is a farmer rude to his corn? When he pulls its ears. What goes all over the pastures, up and down the roads on its head? A horseshoe nail. Why did Lincoln wear striped suspenders? To keep up his overalls. Well, I fear my letter has been rather lengthy, so I'll ring off. Now, all who care to, write for I most surely do get lonesome. I live on a farm and so you see I have lots of time to write. I have written a lot of stories and have had two published but only received $7.00 each for them as they were short. Nannie Mae Bonner. R. 2. Blue Mountain, Ark.

(We are sorry, Nannie, that we could not use your picture but it was broken and a good cut could not be made from it. Your letter was good.-Ed.)
